Unfortunately, “promiscuous” is a term that is almost always used when speaking about a woman. Typically, the word is used to express contempt or disapproval about a female who embraces her sexuality with frequent and casual bedroom encounters. Well, we think it’s time to put an end to the word's harmful view and negative connotation. Here, we explain why promiscuity—and being promiscuous—shouldn’t have a bad rep!
How do you feel about the negative assumptions people make about promiscuity? Let us know in the comments!
Casual sexual behavior allows people to explore their options and figure out what they want in a long-term partner.
According to a study published in the journal Social Psychology and Personality Science, participants who slept around reported higher well-being after casual encounters.

The researchers also found lower stress and higher thriving following one-night stands.
Experiencing more than one partner allows one to explore their sexuality and learn more about the deed itself.
Another study, conducted on 1,311 Minnesotans between the ages of 18 and 24, found that there was no correlation between emotional or mental distress and sleeping around.
Casual encounters
can become longer-term and/or serious commitments.
Intimacy without love is ok, and can be just as satisfying. Plus, you get to learn a lot of your emotional needs through a variety of partners.
Promiscuity does not mean a lack of self-respect or low self-esteem. It's an embracing of one's sexuality and body.
With less commitment to other people, comes more time to focus on yourself.
Knowing yourself, inside and out, results in a happier, healthier life.
Just because someone is sexually active doesn’t mean they’re not careful or don’t use protection.
Sleeping with multiple partners also doesn't mean you're incapable of settling down...
Or that you never want to.
Wanting to sexually satisfy yourself and do you doesn't mean you have "daddy issues." Or "mommy" ones, either.
Who is anyone to judge what your do with your body? It’s your choice.
