Father Publicly Announces He’s “Proud” Of His Daughter For Being An Adult Film Star

For a lot of adult film stars, the hardest part about the job isn’t having to overcome their fear of being naked on camera, or struggling to keep it up after hours of nonstop sex. In fact, all of those things are easy peasy— in comparison to having to tell their families what they do for a living. There have been horror stories about some actors and actresses being disowned by their parents, while others have even been shunned by their entire families. That’s why one adult film star was shocked when her father told her he was proud of her for what she did.

Experience. Adult film star Aurora Snow has been retired from her career for several years now, and traded in her on-screen job to become a journalist. Most recently, she opened up via the Daily Beast about one rather personal experience— the first time she asked her father what he thought of her former career.

Career. Before becoming a journalist, Snow had made a name for herself throughout her 11 year career in the adult film industry. According to the Huffington Post, she even received a place n the Adult Video News Hall of Fame. Now, she openly talks about her past, and wrote via the Daily Beast about a particular conversation she had with her father.

Conversations. ”I spent more than a decade avoiding many conversations with my family—basically any line of discussion that might circle back to my work, any details of how I conducted said work, or even the basic question of whether or not my family knew what work I did. I assumed they knew, and their silence was telling,” writes Snow, via the Daily Beast.

Asking the question. However, deep down, Snow was still curious to know what her father truly thought about her career. That’s why one day during a phone conversation with her father, she decided to ask him once and for all: “Dad, how did you feel when you heard I was Aurora Snow?”

Proud. ”Silence. Then came an answer that blew me away: ‘I was proud.’ That my father didn’t disown me for the unconventional line of work I chose says a lot about his nature. A free spirit, my father has bounced from place to place, from job to job ever since he and my mother divorced. In my family we call that ‘itchy feet’—never in one place long enough to develop roots,” writes Snow.

Surprised. Snow explains that although he wasn’t always around, she and her father were still able to develop a good relationship with one another. But regardless of their healthy relationship, she still wasn’t expecting the answer he gave her.

Curious. ”Proud was not the answer I expected. This is my dad after all, and what father is really okay with his daughter having sex on camera for a living? It’s the first time I’ve ever been brave enough to ask and curious enough to know,” writes Snow.

Getting used to it. Snow’s father goes on to explain that while he is proud of her now, it definitely took him some time to get used to the fact that his daughter was an adult film star. The worst part about it, he told her, was the way he found out— via the Howard Stern show.

Show. ”It came out of the blue, I hear this f****** a**hole talking shit and at the time I didn’t want to deal with it. He had you on his radio show with all those gagging noises or whatever they were and I just wanted to knock the living s*** out of him…That was my opinion at the time,” Snow’s father told her.

Used to it. But now, 12 years later, Snow’s father tells her it doesn’t bother him anymore. In fact, he’s not afraid to tell other people about what she does, and even admitted to Snow that he would’ve probably pursued a similar career if he would’ve been able to.

Money. ”When they’d say, ‘How do you feel about your daughter being a p*** queen?’ I’d ask them how much money they’ve made having sex. None. They’d have to pay for it. So I’m like, ‘OK, you’d pay for it and my daughter makes hundreds of thousands of dollars having sex, so c’mon, if you could do that wouldn’t you?’ That shuts ‘em up,” said Snow’s father, via the Daily Beast.

Cash. Snow says that at the end of the day, the reason she got into adult films was because she was interested in the money she could make. Towards the end of the conversation, Snow’s father tells her that he’s proud of her once again, and encourages her to make her own decisions in life because at the end of the day, it’s her life to do whatever she wants with.

Courage. ”No one’s ever said I’m proud of my daughter making money for having sex, but…I’m proud of you for living the life you want. That takes courage, to get out there like that. You own your life. That’s why I’m proud to call you my daughter. I don’t deserve to, you practically raised yourself, but I still love you,” he tells her.

Reaction. Not every adult film star gets this same reaction from his or her parents, so for Snow to hear that from her father is surprising. But at the end of the day, your parents are some of the only people who will love you unconditionally.
